Kitty Makes A Thing: Mug Brownie

Ahoy there, we have a new Blog Category!

Kitty Makes A Thing or KMAT (K-MAT? K-MART?)

This blog category will house all things food. Possibly craft if it’s easy enough to do and I have supplies.

Without further durking about, here’s MUG BROWNIE.

I’ve been on the hunt for a mug brownie recipe for a while now because bloggers rave about how awesome they are and how YOU SHOULD TRY ONE DUDE!

Finally I found one that I could make a complete disaster of my mother’s kitchen with had the ingredients on hand for. (BTW, THANKS MOM!)

I found this recipe on you guessed it, Pinterest. (I hardly  use Pinterest and only browse it when all my other “I’m bored.” options are exhausted. However, if you’re ITCHING to follow my happy arse, my Pinterest account is right here.)  This recipe will prove that not every pin you find will be amazeballs. We’ll get into that in a bit.

I linked to the assumed source of the pin, rather than the pin itself. Because I’m nice like that.

A Mug (obviously) Your average 16oz one will do

1/4 cup Sugar

1/4 cup Flour

2 TBSP Cocoa (I used Hershey’s baking cocoa)

Pinch of salt (I think this is where it failed for me..)

2 TBSP olive oil

3 TBSP water

Ice cream for the top! (optional)

Add dry ingredients to your mug first, then wet.

Mix it until you get a consistency akin to well, brownie batter!

Pop that sucker into the microwave for 1 minute, 40 seconds. (Adjust accordingly to your microwave. I have a ancient 800 watter)

Add your ice cream.

(Or spit it back out and throw out the rest if yours came out like mine.)

It looked really good.

But, It tasted like poo.

I think the failure happened because I used sea salt crystals instead of the more fine iodized salt.

  1. My MIL sent me the recipe and raved about it. She’s a chocaholic so I figured it would be good. Eh – it was just okay. It’ll do in a pinch if I have a chocolate craving and nothing else on hand, but I’d probably spend a little extra time and make real brownies for the rest of the family too.

  2. What a great idea! I’ll have to share this with my daughter, too!

  3. God this made me laugh really hard

  4. Thanks so much for the laugh. I think “amazeballs” is my new favorite word for the next few days. 🙂
