June Photo-A-Day Recap

I usually do a recap of all the posts I’ve done during the month, however, with tomorrow being the half-way point of 2013, I decided to hold off on that.

Instead, here’s the few photos I managed to capture for June Photo-A-Day with Chantelle¬†and some other silly photos.

Apologies for the quality on some of them. They were taken with my iPod because Instagram unfortunately freezes my phone now. (and that totally sucks.)

Small Victories

This morning, while bleary eyed and still half-asleep….I woke to the news of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) being declared unconstitutional. (Thank you Kit!)

Shortly after, the Supreme Court basically told Proposition 8 to get the hell out because the people behind it weren’t even part of California.

What does this mean?!

This means very good things.

California now recognizes same-sex marriage as legal and with DOMA declared unconstitutional, bi-national and national same-sex couples alike gain all federal rights that a heterosexual couple will have.

These victories are huge, a step in the right direction.

However, they are also quite small.

Despite all the celebrating we LGBT+ folk might be doing today, there is still a lot of fighting to do.

I’m hoping New Jersey eventually becomes a state that legalizes same-sex marriage. While we have civil unions, that’s all well and gravy but my girlfriend isn’t about to ask me to ‘civil union’ her. Catch my drift? Civil Unions are the ‘skim milk’ of marriage and who the hell likes skim milk?

I certainly don’t.

I want the full fat content milk or I don’t want it at all.

Sunday Social: Retail Therapy

1. What is your favorite store to shop at?

I actually despise shopping in all it’s forms.

Especially clothes shopping. That shit gives me anxiety and bad thinking like you wouldn’t believe.

Not to mention every year things just keep getting shorter. I would like to go out in public with my assets covered, thank you.

If said store has sales and clearance racks though, I am all over that. I don’t care if something was so last season it is cheap or free and I want it.

Yeah, I don’t give a hoot about fashion trends either.

2. If you could afford anything and everything, which designer brand would you covet?

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright’s Alice and the Pirates and all things h.NAOTO.

Hooray, Japanese fashion!

3. What is your must have closet staple?

Clothes that fit? *shrugs*

4. What is your favorite kind of shoes? (brand or type)

Asskicking boots, Airwalks or Vans

5. What is the best clothing deal you’ve ever gotten? (sale or amazing find)

I love buy one get one frees. Or half off. or buy two and get one free. Or just clearance.

Sales and the like are my shopping lifeblood when it’s not giving me anxiety attacks.

6. What is a style you’d love to try?

See #2. I’d love to do Japanese street fashion.

And get heckled for not being Asian.

And me not giving a patoot.

Spring Fever VoxBox 2013 #SpringFeverVox

I really thought these new boxes were really cute. A lot more “professional” if you will instead of the plain white boxes that I used to receive before.

Included in my box this time around:

1. Secret Outlast Clear Gel Deodorant

I’m a big fan of Secret in general, and often get the white invisible solids. I’ve not had any mishaps with “White Lines”, but I’m curious to take this for a spin as I’ve never used gel deodorant before and the scent is pretty nice. Also 2-day protection? I’m willing to bust that for you. ūüėČ

2. NYC (New York Color) Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm

Also known as the lip balm I opened with a screwdriver. It smells like apples a bit, but tastes like crap. It also doesn’t hold up well to a napkin.

3. Broadway Nails ImPRESS Press-on Manicure

I’m weary about these, so I’m not going to be using them. Fake nails suck.

I don’t like the design I received¬†anyway.

4. Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Geltastic

I don’t think I’ll be using this again, either. I don’t really have the hair intended for it.

5. Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes in S’mores

This was the first thing I opened, and it was gone within seconds.

It was REALLY good, and I plan on getting more and the Peanut Butter flavor. (It also comes in Peppermint.) Only thing I did not like is how crumbly it was. So it was a bit messy to eat.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
