i first came across Cat Goes Fishing when Angie mentioned it on her blog a while back. i had it sitting in my Steam wishlist for a million years before i got the alert from Capital One screeching at me that my balance has been at $0 for too long and you better spend some money or we’ll close your account!
anyshoe, this is a rather cute, if a bit frustrating game. it’s simple enough, go fishing, sell the fish. upgrade your fishing rods…throw fish back to turn them into bait. other fish will eat the fish you’re reeling in so be sure to be fast or you’ll be left with a fish carcass.
it’s a matter of figuring out the physics bit of the game to get yourself successfully casting.
at least i’m not catching sticks like i did when i caught my first real fish on vacation last year.
the music is relaxing and gets you in the zone for catching some fish!
i feel the controls could use some work and exiting is a little blunder-y. click your usual ‘x’ on the window to quit. don’t panic, your progress is saved! i did have to google search how to quit though, because i was done playing and now i’m trying to bring up a menu to save and quit…and there is none.
hoping that there will be updates to address this. the developer has a beta version out, but not sure if the issues i’ve faced are being addressed aside from adding more content.
Overall Verdict: 3 out of 5 paws up!
disclosure: i was not asked nor compensated with the game to write this review by the developer. i purchased the game with my money and wrote the review of my accord. all thoughts and opinions are my own.
